Sam Hopkins

It's a long way from Kansas City to, well, pretty much anywhere...

But born and raised there in America's heartland, Sam Hopkins learned how to bring the world home at an early age. With both a passion and a knack for languages, Sam can talk politics and economics face-to-face in seven of the world's tongues.

That gives him translator-free access when he travels to spots from South America to the Middle East, and back to his current home of Baltimore.

Most of all, he revels in getting his readers the fundamental stories of today's global economy, visiting facilities and companies and finding about consumer attitudes where he's the only American, and often the only foreigner around.

Before becoming the global investment guru at Angel Publishing in 2005, Sam's work experience ranged from delivering 30-inch pizzas on sweltering K.C. summer days to meeting foreign ambassadors and writing legislative recommendations on Capitol Hill.

Now, Sam traverses the globe with knowledge he gained with honors degrees in linguistics and international studies from the University of Kansas, and plenty of the curiosity and chutzpah it takes to uncover winning stock market plays most investors have never even dreamed about.

He's a frequent guest on financial talk shows across the country, and his expertise has made him a source for international journals like Mexico's El Universal newspaper.

From Oxford, England, to rural western China, to Colombia, Sam has investigated at the ground level and rubbed elbows with experts in nearly every energy industry under the sun.

From off-grid solar installations to power-packed plants like jatropha, Sam's seeing the global green scene develop before his eyes.

And since Sam knows that the future of energy ranges far beyond the bounds of the dying fossil-fuel economy, he's a regular contributor to Energy and Capital and Green Chip Review and co-founder of Green Chip International, a one-of-a-kind service that capitalizes on the global green scene with foreign-traded clean energy stocks.
