Therefore I have put thought about the effects of air pollution; I even asked myself some questions, one was "How dose air pollution really affects the environment?" In my research I have learned that air pollution can be a total threat to the environment. Nature is one of the most valuable substances we have on earth, but plants find difficulties in manufacture food in air pollution. Eventually plants die because of all the chemical content in the water absorbed by roots, which affects plant life. Nature is not the only affects of air pollution, but it's also the innocent and wonderful creatures we have living in the oceans. When petroleum is spill in the seas and oceans, creatures such as penguins, bird and seals become coated in oil. This makes it difficult for them to float and keep warm and they may eventually die. Solid waste in the water encourages the growth of algae which depletes water of oxygen and kills marine life. I had never put too much thought to this topic, but I have realized that air pollution is something that we should be concern of.
Moreover pollution becomes more serious every time, pollution is able to make many changes in the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide from vehicles and factories and the burning of fossil fuels contributes to change in the earth's atmosphere, such as causes rain to be full of toxic chemicals. The toxic chemicals are known as acid rain, the chemicals fall into our lakes, rivers, and soil. Carbon dioxide, is produced when we burn fossil fuel, prevents the atmosphere from being able to release some of its heat energy, which causes the earth to get warmer. Some types of pollution damage the ozone layer which protects us from the sun's ultraviolet rays. This also causes the earth to slowly get warmer. In addition to reducing the amount of oxygen in the atmosphere, we also fill our air with pollution that makes it hard to breathe. If we want to continue to live on this planet, we need to start taking better care of it!
Like the phrase mentions "most achievements and pleasures of life are in bad air" every time, years, and generations approaches, instantly technology increases. In addition to the advance technology and the pleasure of life, air pollution becomes inferior to the environment and the population. In cities, cars, buses and airplanes, as well as industry and constructions cause air pollution and gives serious illness to sensitive people. Air pollution can cause breathing problems and eye, throat and skin irritation. When solid waste is not properly treated and disposed of, it can become a breeding for pests and diseases it can spread. Some of the main air pollutants gases are carbon monoxide, ozone and nitrogen dioxide, all this gasses can be awfully dangerous. For example carbon monoxide enters the blood stream and reduces the delivery of oxygen to the body's organs and tissues. Ozone Damage to lung tissues and reduces lung functioning. Finally nitrogen dioxide contributes to acid rain and it irritates lungs and lowers resistance to respiratory infections. According to the World's Health Organization, each year about tens of thousands of people die in the world's major cities due to the breathing in of poor quality air. It's really scary to know that all these terrible gases are running free in the air and that we are breathing them without knowing what it could affect us.
That is why air quality is important, so that we can be healthier and keep our surrounding clean and fresh. If the people would just help to reduce global air pollution and climate, the environment, atmosphere, and the earth would be a better place. By driving a car that gets at least 35 miles a gallon, walking, bicycling, and using mass transit when possible, is an excellent examples of how we can help our surrounding. Other helpful strategies would be replacing incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs, making home more energy efficient, and buying only energy efficient appliances. Plant trees and avoid purchasing products such as Styrofoam that contain CFCs. Support much stricter clean air laws and enforcement of international treaties to reduce ozone depletion and slow global warming. Earth is everybody's home and nobody likes living in a dirty home. Together, we can make the earth a cleaner, healthier and more pleasant place to live.
