Solar Jobs Booming!

Here are today's top solar headlines. . .

  • Hitachi is planning to pony up $26 million to build a new solar cell film plant in China. Production is expected to being in 2013.

  • U.S. solar developer Renewable Resource Capital has signed a deal with South Korean energy developer Youil Ensys to develop a minimum of 100 megawatts of solar photovoltaic projects. Renewable Resource Capital currently has a project pipeline of more than 250 megawatts throughout the U.S.

  • Arizona has officially moved from No. 8 in solar jobs to No. 3. The state now boasts a solar workforce of nearly 5,000. Only California and Colorado rank higher in solar job creation.

  • The Solar Foundation's latest research indicates that from August, 2010 to August, 2011, solar jobs grew by 6.8 percent – or nearly ten times faster than the overall economy. As of August, 2011, the U.S. solar industry boasted 100,237 jobs, and employers now expect to increase their workforce by 24 percent next year, creating an additional 24,000 new solar jobs.  You can read the full report here.
