Green Technology Companies Expected to Launch IPOs This Year

Upcoming Green IPO Filings May End Industry Drought

Several green technology companies are expected to launch initial public offerings (IPOs) this year.

So far in 2010 a total of 22 IPOs have been launched.

However, not a single green technology IPO has debuted thus far this year.

Electric carmaker Tesla Motors, solar company Solyndra, and biofuels firm Codexis, are among the green technologies that have registered for IPOs.

Analysts say several other green companies are waiting to file when the market heats up.

Silver Spring Network, a smart grid network company, is expected to file a registration statement this year.

Silver Spring, joined with Tesla, Solyndra, and Codexis, will set the tone for the green technology sector.

Silver Spring is said to be the best positioned and will likely receive the warmest welcome by investors.

Jeff Lipton, managing director and head of North American cleantech investment banking for Jeffries & Co., says that we may easily see six to a dozen green IPOs this year-if the market remains relatively stable.

Now we'll have to wait and see.

Until next time,

Hilary
