Fisker Automotive Loan

Fisker Automotive Loan Comes In At More Than A Half Billion Dollars

The DOE announced yesterday that it would be awarding a $529.7 million loan to Fisker Automotive for the development of two plug-in hybrid vehicles.

The first, and probably the most well-known to those familiar with Fisker, is the Karma. This vehicle delivers 50 miles in all-electric mode with a top speed of 125 mph.

The second plug-in - called Project NINA - is Fisker's next model that's expected to come in at a price (including tax credits) of about $40,000. The company has estimated the production of between 75,000 and 100,000, starting in 2012.

Plutonic Power Corporation announced today that it and GE Energy Financial Services will be purchasing the Dokie Ridge wind project in western Canada. This is actually an uncompleted project (144 megawatts) passed along from EarthFirst Canada.

The acquisition is expected to take place in November, and construction is expected to be completed in 2011.

According to earlier estimates, the Dokie project will generate enough electricity to meet the annual needs of 34,000 homes.

Editor's Note: From solar and wind to geothermal and biofuels, Green Chip readers want to know which renewable energy resource will take over where fossil fuels leave off. The answer is...all of the above!

There is no one single solution to today's energy crisis. However, the combination of all viable renewable energy resources, coupled with energy efficiency, conservation and smart grid development will not only lead us to energy independence and a cleaner, more sustainable energy infrastructure — but also to what will soon prove to be the greatest investment opportunity of the 21st Century.

What is really going on when we the american taxpayers are being used to fund Al Gore and partners plans to build high priced cars and not here in the U.S.but in Finland? The DOE granted this govt loan,WHY?The pricey cars are unaffordable to most american sends jobs overseas and couldnt our govt at least grant the loan only if the cars are built here in the U.S.Could it be that the reason theyre not built here is the unions which the white house is very supportive of, would drive up Mr GORES LABOR COSTS AND CUT INTO THEIR PROFITS?How in the world did our country ever justify this loan?
